Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Learn more about Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is the most frequently used method of easing mild to moderate dental anxiety.
It has been used in dentistry since 1844.
Nitrous oxide is safely administered by a relative analgesia machine, which combines oxygen and nitrous oxide delivery through monitored flowmeters.
To prevent any unwanted release of these gases into the dental operatory, a scavenger system vacuums all gases that are not inhaled by the patient into the proper disposal system.
The effects of nitrous oxide are quickly reversed once delivery of the gas is stopped, which allows patients to be alert and continue on with their day when they leave the dental chair.
The doctors at Sandalwood Dental Care would be glad to discuss pre-treatment options to help reduce your dental anxiety.
